The U.S. legal cannabis sales totaled $26.8bn in 2022 and nearly $30bn in 2023 ($20.2bn of adult-use sales and $9.3bn for medical sales). Experts predict that the market could reach $35bn in 2024.

In May 2023, Minnesota became the 23rd to legalize adult-use cannabis. It has been estimated that adult consumers in Minnesota will spend about $1,903 on cannabis products per consumer annually, or about $1.37bn. A limited number of business licenses are expected to be issued in late 2024, with adult-use sales beginning in early 2025.
